Tameside Digital Infrastructure

The Tameside Digital Infrastructure is a Cooperative which brings together public and private sector organisations to create and share new digital infrastructure in and around Tameside. 50km of ducting has been installed and populated with fibre, the network includes: routes commissioned by Tameside MBC, Tameside Hospital, Pennine Care, Tameside College and New Charter Housing Association.

The network includes a new tier 111 data centre within historic redeveloped Ashton Old Baths and DR centres.

ITS are a founder member of the co-operative and offer an open access network across the infrastructure to allow wholesale/reseller partners to access the full fibre network facilities to provide advanced Internet and telecommunications services for businesses and consumers in Tameside 

DCMS and BDUK nominated Tameside to be one of six pilot ‘Wave 1’ projects in its £200m Local Full Fibre Network Programme, and is encouraging other authorities to learn from and use this model.
