Bringing Super and Ultrafast Connectivity to Rural Areas

Posted on September 1, 2017

ITS are making a significant impact on rural economies by bringing super and ultrafast connectivity to hard to reach areas.

Although it is a trusted and robust way to deliver superfast internet access for today’s uncompromising business needs, fibre to the premises (FTTP) is also the most expensive. However, pre-determined government targets and co-funded projects to address the issue of insufficient connectivity in digitally deprived areas, combined with expertise from ITS Technology Group, could be the answer.

ITS is now working with and supporting over a dozen rural estates and business parks across Cheshire, Derbyshire, Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire and Yorkshire, helping them to achieve their superfast connectivity goals, which in turn helps drive growth in their local economy. We provide a design, fund, build and maintain approach to full fibre networks with a fixed wireless overlay which helps achieve rapid and cost effective deployment over wide areas of rural communities.

High speed connectivity is essential to the long-term viability of businesses in rural communities. In 2016, ITS and representatives from C&C Catering Equipment Limited, whose business premises are part of a large rural estate, worked together to create a fast and cost effective high speed broadband service. Over time, the nature of C&C’s business had become more digitally based, and the regular use of huge CAD files and electronic documentation was causing issues. C&C struggled on for several years with a sluggish ADSL connection that yielded just 5Mbps of download and 1Mbps upload speeds. As ADSL is distance dependent and the connection speed achieved relies heavily on its proximity to the telephone exchange, this type of connection was unlikely to guarantee the speed and service that C&C so desperately needed.

Roy Shelton, CEO of ITS Technology Group, had this to say:

“Full fibre networks complemented with Fixed Wireless Access broadband is a fantastic way to ensure our rural customers can reap the benefits of high speed internet access, where connections use radio frequencies to transmit signals through the air (radio waves), without any wires or cables back to a central ultrafast fibre location. ITS believes that high speed connectivity is essential to the long-term viability of rural communities.

Demand for high speed connectivity is only going to increase due to factors such as the growing population, remote working and online applications etc. At ITS we understand that access to fast and reliable broadband connectivity is vital to support business growth, help rural communities to thrive and make it easier for people to get on with everyday life.  That is why we are keen to focus on this sector, to help in the delivery of such an important service.

If you would like to chat to a member of my team about planning and funding your rural connectivity project, give ITS a call. We’d be delighted to assist you.”
