Meet the Team – Network Architect
This month we meet Phil Davies our Network Architect.
How do you get the day started?
I have two young children, so my day starts early, loud and is always manic to get the kids ready for school before a quick cuppa and off to the Chester or Welshpool office. Apart from the days I work from home which are just a little less rushed!
What is your role? How has it changed over time?
My role is Network Architect and I’m still fairly new to the company (less than 2 months!) so what’s really changed over the short time is I’m learning how ITS operates day to day as a company and how its many networks are configured. I’m also starting to remember people’s names!
What does your role entail?
My role is to design and deploy the equipment needed for our expanding national network. I work closely with other teams and am involved in a lot of technical meetings of exciting up and coming projects which will keep me very busy this year.
What do like best about your role?
As a newbie I have been welcomed by the friendly staff and every day brings a different challenge so I’m never bored!
Tell us something we would not know about you?
I play drums for a SKA band and have played gigs with them all over the UK and in Europe. However since having children and getting a bit older, gigs have gone from every weekend to maybe a few a year. These days I’m more likely to be at home at weekend drinking wine, playing my ukulele or watching a film with my wife Claire.
