Meet the Team – Head of Technical Delivery
This month, Barry Weaver, Head of Technical Delivery, shares what the average day has in store for him.
How do you get the day started?
I roll over in bed, turn my alarm off, get showered and dressed. Usually I have a quick check of my emails before I head for the office.
What is your role? Has it changed over time, where do you start in the business?
Currently I lead the TDA team and service management team. My role has always been a technical operations role. In a fast paced business like ITS that means the technical and design requirements vary a lot including everything from managed services to large wide area networks.
What does your role entail?
The TDA team is responsible for producing quality designs for the projects team to implement. The service management team is responsible for customer maintenance issues and excellent customer services.
What do like best about your role?
It is a thriving environment. The business has a strong commercial focus, I enjoy the challenge of creating designs and services that are a blend of technical excellence, good service whilst being commercially viable.
There is a strong positive attitude that encourages creativity to achieve innovative solutions. I enjoy researching and investigating disruptive technologies and working strategically with key technical partners.
Tell us something we wouldn’t know about you?
I was once voted Young Business Person of the year and was given an award by Katie Hopkins of ‘The Apprentice’.
I also volunteer for a local charity called Climb (Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases) providing them with general advice around their IT.
Climb’s vision is to provide metabolic disease information, advice and support to children, young people, adults, families and professionals in the UK. They also offer support to families worldwide and funding towards educational and primary research programmes.
