INCA Conference – Yet another success
Members of the ITS senior management team headed to Newcastle recently for the 2017 annual INCA (Independent Networks Cooperative Association) Conference where they were joined by other UK based alternative network providers.
The conference poses a great opportunity for ITS to promote its activity and achievement to an informed audience of managers and senior officials.
The event kicked off with a keynote speech from Minister for Digital, Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP who was joined by leading figures from the altnet sector.
Leading figures gave updates on progress in the year since INCA published the Building Gigabit Britain report and this was followed by Government commitments to action.
The conference gave members the latest info on nearly £2bn of new funding initiatives, including the Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund, Local Full Fibre Networks, plus 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme.
There was also a number of debate projects to reduce the costs of deploying new networks, schemes to extend rural broadband coverage and new initiatives to support the altnet sector.
The event also gave our team the opportunity to connect with network suppliers to discuss issues they were experiencing in the roll out of alternative networks, join in debates, talk about challenges and how they can be overcome.
Public sector authorities who were also in attendance, and were interested in commercialising existing assets to bring the next generation networks to their cities in the near future.
Lisa Harding, Head of Strategic Partnerships at ITS said: “The annual INCA event is an important date in our diary each year and ITS always leave the event educated and informed.
“Since its inception, INCA has sought to support and strengthen the altnet sector, not least by bringing together the brightest and best in the industry, encouraging development but also sharing best practice through our programme of seminars, workshops and conferences.
“With ITS being one of the UK's top independent network providers and a member of INCA it was key that we attended this event.”
