Key purpose of the role

This is a technical sales role leading high value/high volume opportunities to support and contribute to ITS revenues and EBITDA. It is also a key role in driving the end-to-end partner/customer experience in solution sales and delivery of complex connectivity services. This role is to, technically and commercially, define, qualify and sell ITS connectivity solutions directly to end clients and indirectly to partners. The role holder will support the Business Development, Reseller and Wholesale teams. There will be a focus on supporting Public Sector opportunities and ‘In Sector’ opportunities in the Carrier and MNO Space.

This role ensures ITS solutions and services are defined and delivered at the right cost, revenue and margin while maintaining focus on the partner/customer experience. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work on new sales opportunities, defining connectivity solutions for partners/customers, driving ITS revenues and EBITDA. Includes creating and progressing self-initiated leads and sales opportunities with partner account managers and business development managers/directors.
  • Responsible for identifying and documenting the solutions, providing the design authority and ensuring resultant orders deliver the expected partner/customer outcomes.
  • Identify and help with initial qualification of new opportunities from the sales team where applicable.
  • Support & present qualified sales solution proposals to ITS Finance that meet or exceed commercial targets.
  • Be the pre-sales technical lead for a number of ITS partner/customer accounts.
  • Interface into Architecture, Engineering and Operational teams to understand ITS network capabilities
  • Maintain specialist knowledge and skills of the UK connectivity market including input into product roadmap, market trends and emerging technologies.
  • May lead a team on a project basis where the project requires it.


Experience and Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the UK fibre connectivity market and resultant technical, management and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience of how fibre technologies and solutions are applied to value and volume business solutions.
  • Consultative approach to building trusted advisor relationships with partners/customers and industry peers.
  • Supplier knowledge of connectivity CPE, technologies and solution design.
  • Relevant business/professional qualification or equivalent technical job experience.
  • Understanding of systems design, system admin and emerging connectivity solutions/technologies (public, private and hybrid cloud).
  • Must have ability to communicate at a complex technical level with partner/customer, network/IT groups to determine technical requirements for solutions.
  • Strong ability to evaluate complex partner/customer requirements and recommend cost effective solutions to drive commercial advantage. Good analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to rapidly adapt to technology change and market evolution (e.g. drive for full fibre).
  • Effectively communicate and seek advice where necessary and demonstrates good team building skills.
  • Leadership skills in managing, coaching and motivating where appropriate.
  • Recognised as an expert in fibre connectivity solutions and shares knowledge amongst the team.
  • Able to design customer connectivity and service solutions across multiple technology stacks including Dark Fibre, Optical, IP/MPLS VPN solutions and Access products
  • Understanding of access technologies such as ADSL/VDSL/GPon/XGSPon
  • Appreciation of network economics to deliver customer solutions

Key purpose of the role

This role carries primary responsibility for coordinating new customer service delivery requests, from initial order acceptance through to service activation and billing instigation.  Working right across the ITS team, you will work to ensure order details are captured correctly, and that orders are progressed either internally through the ITS project team, or externally through third party suppliers.

You will also keep customers and partners fully updated with order progress, with close attention to delivery timelines and highlighting issues that may jeopardise delivery.

This role will suit candidates who wish to pursue a career in the telecommunications industry with a leading company driving fibre delivered products and services to partners, businesses, and residential customers across the UK.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the day to day activities associated with customer service delivery
  • Handling inbound/outbound calls and emails, updating ITS systems accordingly
  • Keeping partners and customers fully updated through the lifecycle of the delivery process
  • Maintaining good working relationships with preferred suppliers / partners and ensuring correct pricing applied, working alongside the wider team
  • Outbound customer service calls post implementation
  • Acting as a “buddy” for Project Managers on major projects ensuring that the administration, coordination and ordering of the projects are successful
  • Providing a support service to the service desk during any major service outage
